I took this picture this morning. The spider had caught an aphid and was sitting in a small hollow in one of the bricks. The aphid, having been sucked dry, resembled a deflated balloon.

Another two more insects to add to “the old red brick wall” collection
I have spent many an hour in the pond, and im only able to take two types of shots (vertically looking down and 45 degree angle shots). I have so many ideas of the images that i want but trying to get them proves to be a real challenge. This is another shot of a wolf spider. I would love to get a shot at eye level. But this would mean that i would have to get my camera wet, which is not really an option. So for now i’m going to devise a play for getting the shot.
Wolf spider being attacked by fly
Whilst filming this wolf spider grooming itself, a fly spontaneously flew down within the blink of an eye and hit the spider. It happened several times whilst i was filming. Its behaviour that i have never seen before.
Prairie Warbler (Dendroica discolor)
Everglades National Park, Florida, USA
This image made it into the semi-finals of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year. I entered a total of seven images in. The rest made it to first round and went no further.
